ID Agent
The Shelterbelt ID Agent was developed to give greater flexibility on managing user rights on the Internet in conjunction with the Shelterbelt Internet Management service. The ID Agent is a small, easily deployed app that is run on each device that captures the device login information and reports that to the Shelterbelt Appliance. This allows user login name to show up in the reporting functions. It also allows for creation of group Internet filtering policies in Novell, Apple, or Microsoft Active Directory structures.
The Shelterbelt Remote Agent application will provide the same filtering rules to all district owned student laptops no matter where they are located. Both the ID Agent and Remote Agent tools are free to Shelterbelt Internet Management users.
The filter is based on content of the Web site instead of keywords or self-rating systems. This offers more flexibility to the school. Fewer sites are inadvertently blocked, encouraging relevant use of the Internet without slowing down your system or annoying the researcher by blocking sites based on words or partial words such as "association."
Daily updates provide constant protection to your network and your students. This is by far superior to many filters that only update weekly or monthly. Since the updates are applied by the Twotrees office, you know your students and staff are protected regardless if your technology administrator had time to download updates and then apply them to your network.
The Shelterbelt filtering is customized to the level of security your district requires and is scalable. Twotrees has schools with over 10,000 users operating on one single Shelterbelt appliance.
